DDG is a specialized technical unit within the Danish Refugee Council (DRC). It is a unit to combat landmines and armed violence whose mission is to create a safe environment where all people – men, women, girls and boys can live free from armed violence and risks posed by remnants of conflict. In fragile contexts, in particular, DDG implements peacebuilding initiatives, conflict mediation and the prevention of armed violence, by addressing not only the risks associated with instruments of armed violence, but also by focusing on building resilience within communities and at the individual level.
In the Sahel, DDG is implementing a cross-border program to reduce armed violence focused on improving the security of cross-border communities in the Liptako-Gourma area, a region bordering Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso. Since March 1, 2019, in these three countries, DDG has also been implementing the Women’s Leadership Program for Inclusive Security Governance, the objective of which is to strengthen the voice of women in civil society in the governance of the security sector. security through the establishment of a pool of experts.
